Type project

Type..takes a lot of time. A lot of time. However, I don't have to worry about things like pixel ratio.

Ideas for typogrophy related project

I had no idea what I was going to do for this project, as text and I have had a falling out over the years (text was pissed that I refused to attempt to learn more about him, and I honestly found text to be a bit of a bloviater; every so often one of us tries to mend things, but then we remember why we hate each other in the first place). That being said, I wanted to do something that fit in with my general theme over the semester of construction. For some reason I couldn't get the thought of those Japanese garden wooden water retainer thingies (might not be real name) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shishi_odoshi = real name).
Since I couldn't get it out of my mind, I decided to develop around the subject and follow water from a spring, into one of those Shishi Odoshi. This is still just developmental, but from the Shishi Odoshi the water, all of this represented by text and symbols of course, could fall into a concrete mixer. The concrete is then poured for new construction, forming a brick or two brackets ([]) or two sevens (L7 ... pretend the L is an upside down 7), and stacked in development of a new building/house.
The stream part itself can travel through a landscape of manmade + natural environments, considering the Shishi Odoshi I'm thinking of Japanese gardens. I had trouble finding any text animations that really went with this idea. The majority of text animations I found were either commercials or something youtube calls "Moving Typogrophy" or something like that.
I somehow also kept getting pulled into optical illusion videos...I may be attracted to them like a moth to a lantern...

A couple images of a Japanese garden and a Shishi Odoshi are in order, I would imagine:

I did find this...though it's not really related but still interesting enough I suppose...

Mid-Term Final

Things going wrong seems to be the theme of this project. Not even unfixable things, in my case though others were having ridiculous issues of extraordinary ridiculousness, but just things jumping all over the screen for reasons I still can't figure out. But, that's all behind me. There's still some things that I would like to change as far as the general timing and velocity of the various actions taking place, but I find myself hitting the very edge of my available time. All in all, it was a fairly voracious adventure through After-Effects, though I feel that I took the long way to do certain things, and might have to try and figure out a faster way to do certain things when they come up in later projects.

Midterm in progress

I've finished about 60-70% of the midterm, all that's left is to finish animating a couple of the comps and then go through and alter the velocity graphs and such for the movements.
